Heart Health, Weight Loss, & Lab Improvements
Lee Powers is a force to be reckoned with. Her knowledge and abilities as a patient
advocate are unmatched.
I had met Lee about a year and a half ago but only on a social level. However, I learned
about her life’s challenges and could see her passion to help others.
I turned 65 this past year, and considered myself healthy by most standards. However,
I was feeling tired most days. As a lifetime blood donor (over 125) I knew I was
struggling with iron deficiencies due to a couple of deferred blood donations. My regular
GP put me on a multi with iron and ran a few blood workups and a follow up was
scheduled. That’s it.
I reached out to Lee and we talked about some concerns I had. I agreed to a
consultation with her and her care team and was immediately impressed. They
suggested additional testing would be wise and sent in an extensive lab workup. As a
result, it was determined that I had a Thyroid problem, along with some concerns with
cholesterol levels and changed my medications accordingly.
Not long after, I had an angiogram, where my Cardiologist found a 50% blockage of my
LAD. That was a wakeup call to me. Talking back to Lee, we made some strong
decisions.
I cut out red meat, which was big for me. I switched to a Mediterranean diet, cut back
on alcohol consumption and increased my exercise program. I also am taking more
time off to reduce my stress levels. The results have been profound.
As of today, I have gone from 198 pounds to 178. My recent labs show improvements
in several categories. And my work-life balance has greatly improved.
Lee and her team go way beyond most providers, they take a holistic approach and look
beyond the obvious.
Thank you Lee.
